Vinyl and Composite Fence Installation in Winnipeg

Vinyl and composite fencing never needs staining, which is the whole point. The part nobody tells you is that not every panel on the market is rated for a Winnipeg winter, and the cheap ones let you find that out yourself.

No Staining, No Greying, No Weekend Lost Every Third Spring

The appeal of vinyl and composite is simple and it is real. You wash it once a year and that is the entire relationship. No stripping, no staining, no sanding a rough board flat, no watching the colour drift from honey to grey while you decide whether this is the spring you deal with it. For a lot of homeowners that alone decides the material.
There is a catch, and it is specific to where we live. Vinyl becomes more brittle as temperature drops, and Winnipeg reaches temperatures that expose the difference between panels made with proper impact modifiers and panels made without them. A low grade vinyl fence can survive three prairie winters and then crack from a snow shovel in the fourth. We specify cold rated product and we tell you the brand.
Composite behaves differently. It is heavier, carries the texture and depth of real wood, and resists impact better in the cold, but it costs more and it needs posts and framing sized for the extra weight. Neither material is automatically the right answer. Your run length, exposure and budget decide it, and we go through that with you on site rather than over the phone.

Why Winnipeg Homeowners Choose Genesis for Vinyl and Composite Fencing

Cold Rated Product Only

We specify vinyl made with impact modifiers for cold climate use, and we name the product in your proposal. In a city that reaches minus thirty five, this is the single specification that matters most.

Posts Below Frost

The material above ground changes. The engineering below it does not. Posts are bored below frost depth and set in concrete, exactly as they are on a cedar fence.

Framed for the Weight

Composite panels are significantly heavier than wood. Post size, spacing and concrete volume are increased to match, rather than reusing a cedar fence spec and hoping.

Line and Height Confirmed First

We confirm the property line and the allowable height for your yard at the site visit. City of Winnipeg limits differ between front and rear yards, and getting it wrong means taking it down.

Owner on Every Site

Tyler is on every project. The person who specified your panel and set your post depth is on site while the fence goes up.

No rushed timelines

Our warranty covers the build: post setting, framing, panel fitting, alignment and gate hardware. Panels carry their own manufacturer warranty, which we register and hand to you at closeout.

Vinyl or Composite, Honestly Compared

Both solve the same problem. They solve it differently, and they cost differently.

Clean Lines, Lowest Upkeep

Vinyl gives you a crisp white or neutral fence that looks the same in year one and year fifteen. It is lighter to work with, faster to install and the least demanding material we offer. The only thing that matters is buying a grade rated for our winters.

Wood Look, Without the Wood

Composite carries real grain texture and darker, richer colours that vinyl cannot reproduce. It handles impact better in deep cold and suits properties where the fence sits next to a composite deck and needs to match it.

Not sure which material suits your yard?

Book a site visit and we will bring samples of both, walk your line and tell you honestly which one we would put on our own property.

How We Install Vinyl and Composite Fencing

Panel systems are unforgiving. Posts have to land exactly where the panel expects them, so the layout is done before anything is dug. Here is how a Genesis fence comes together.

Free Quote

You call or submit a form with your project scope and location. Tyler or a team member responds within one business day with questions and preliminary guidance. If it sounds like a fit, we move to a site visit.

Site Visit & Line Walk

Tyler walks the line with you, confirms the property boundary, checks grade changes and access, and reviews allowable height for your yard. Vinyl and composite samples are shown side by side so you can see both in daylight.

Proposal, Permitting, & Scheduling

A detailed line-item proposal names the panel product, and covers labour, posts, hardware and gates with a layout showing the run and gate positions. Once approved, we lock in a confirmed start date and order materials.

Locates, Layout and Post Setting

Utility locates are called before anything is dug. Post positions are laid out to the panel dimensions, holes bored below frost depth, and posts set plumb in concrete and checked against a strung line end to end.

Panels, Gates & Final Walkthrough

Panels are fitted and locked in, gates hung and adjusted to swing true, and offcuts and spoil cleared off site. Tyler walks the finished fence with you, registers the manufacturer warranty and explains how to clean it.

What Winnipeg Homeowners Say

Vinyl and Composite Fencing Across Winnipeg and Surrounding Communities

Genesis serves Winnipeg homeowners city-wide and across the north-corridor suburbs. Below are the primary communities where we regularly design and build fences, for both residential and commercial properties.

Common Questions About Working With Genesis

Both are priced by the linear foot and both sit above cedar up front. Vinyl comes in below composite, and cost moves with height, run length, style and gate count. The trade is that neither one costs you anything again in stain or labour. We provide free ballpark estimates by phone or email once you can share your run length, and final pricing always requires an on-site visit.
Low grade vinyl can, because it becomes brittle in deep cold and a shovel or a snowblower finds the weak point. Vinyl made with proper impact modifiers for cold climates holds up. We only specify cold rated product and the brand is named in your proposal.
Vinyl if you want clean lines, the lowest upkeep and the better price. Composite if you want real wood grain, darker colours or a fence that matches a composite deck. We bring samples of both to the site visit.
It covers our build: post setting, framing, panel fitting, alignment and gate hardware. Panels carry their own manufacturer warranty, which we register and hand to you at closeout so you know exactly who covers what.
