A fireplace weighs many times what a patio does. We excavate and pour a footing sized for the structure and set below the frost line, so the feature does not settle, lean or pull away from the patio as Manitoba ground moves through the seasons.
The firebox sees temperatures that will destroy ordinary block. We build it with fire-rated materials so the decorative stone never takes direct heat, which is what causes the spalling, cracking and discolouration you see on poorly built fireplaces after a couple of seasons.
A fireplace that smokes back at you is a fireplace nobody uses. We size the firebox opening, throat and flue in proportion and build the chimney to the height the design needs, so the smoke goes up and the seating area stays clear.
If a workmanship issue appears within 3 years, including settling, leaning, cracking or stone separation, we return and fix it at no charge. Written into every project contract, not just a verbal promise.
Tyler Abraham is not a project manager in an office. He is physically on site at every project, checking the footing, the level of every course and the finish detail in real time. On a feature this large and this permanent, that matters.
We do not double-book crews or chase volume. Each project gets the full team's attention. If your timeline is unrealistic, Tyler will tell you and decline the work rather than compromise the result.
A full masonry fireplace with hearth, fire-rated firebox, flue and chimney, finished in Barkman, Belgard, Techo-Bloc or Rosetta stone to match your patio and walls. Built on an engineered footing and detailed with the mantel, hearth height and wood storage worked into the design.
A fireplace works when the space around it is designed with it. We build the seating walls, patio surround, screening and lighting as one package, so the finished area feels like an outdoor room rather than a structure sitting on a lawn.
You call or submit a form with your project scope and location. Tyler or a team member responds within one business day with questions and preliminary guidance. If it sounds like a fit, we move to a site visit.
Tyler visits the site, assesses your grade, access, prevailing wind and clearances from the house, fences and trees. He takes precise measurements and photographs, and placement, size, stone, hearth height and seating are discussed in person with samples available.
A detailed line-item proposal covers all labour, materials, footing, firebox, stone and finishing, with a layout plan and elevation included. Once approved, we handle the required municipal building permits, lock in a confirmed start date, and order materials.
The most important phase. We excavate and pour the footing below the frost line, build the firebox in fire-rated material, and construct the throat, flue and chimney to the proportions the design calls for so the fireplace draws properly.
The stone veneer, cap, hearth and mantel are cut, set and finished, the patio and seating are tied in cleanly, and the area is cleaned down. Tyler then walks the finished fireplace with you, explains the warranty, and provides safe use and care guidance before the project is closed.
Tell us about your project and we will help you figure out if Genesis is the right fit. No pressure, just an honest conversation about your space and your goals.
