Custom decks and raised platforms for Winnipeg homeowners: composite and wood decking, railings, and multi-level builds that connect your home to your yard. Built by hand, 3-year warranty, owner on every site.
A great deck is where your home spills out into the yard: morning coffee, summer dinners, kids and guests moving freely between inside and out. But in Manitoba, a deck has to handle frost heave, heavy snow load, and years of freeze-thaw. Built on shallow footings or with the wrong materials, a deck will shift, sag, and rot within a few seasons.
At Genesis Interlocking, we have been building decks and outdoor structures in Winnipeg and the surrounding suburbs since 2014, with dedicated carpentry capability since 2021. Every deck starts with footings set below the frost line, proper ledger and flashing detail, and a structure framed to carry real Manitoba snow load. The finish you walk on is only as good as the framing beneath it.
We build with premium composite and wood decking from Trex, Deckorators, and TruNorth, integrate your deck into the full outdoor living space, carry a 3-year workmanship warranty on every install, and Tyler Abraham is on site at every project. No subcontractors. No shortcuts.
Genesis added dedicated carpentry capability in 2021, and Tyler builds with the same standards he brings to hardscape. A deck is part structure, part finish carpentry, and we treat both seriously, from the framing you never see to the boards you walk on every day.
We build with Trex, Deckorators, and TruNorth decking, premium lines engineered for low maintenance and long life. Real materials with manufacturer warranties, not big-box boards that fade, warp, and splinter after a few winters.
Frost heave and snow load destroy poorly built decks. We set footings below the frost line, frame for real load, and detail every ledger and flashing connection. This is where lesser builds sag and rot within a few seasons.
If any workmanship issue appears within 3 years, including sagging, board movement, or fastener failure, we return and fix it at no charge. Written into every project contract, not just a verbal promise.
Tyler Abraham is not a project manager in an office. He is physically on site at every project, overseeing footings, framing, and finish decisions in real time. On a build this detailed, that matters.
We do not double-book crews or chase volume. Each project gets the full team's attention. If your timeline is unrealistic, Tyler will tell you and decline the work rather than compromise the result.
We build with premium composite and wood decking, paired with quality railing and framing systems. Every material is chosen to look premium and hold up through Manitoba’s seasons.
Composite decking from Trex, Deckorators, and TruNorth delivers the look of real wood without the constant upkeep. Engineered for fade, stain, and moisture resistance, it holds its colour and finish through prairie summers and winters with simple cleaning.
For clients who want natural wood, we build with quality cedar and pressure-treated lumber, finished cleanly and framed to last. Every deck is completed with code-compliant railings, stairs, and hardware rated for Manitoba's climate.
During the consultation, Tyler will walk you through decking, railing, and finish options relative to your design vision, site conditions, and investment level. We bring samples to every site visit. You do not need to decide in advance.
Most homeowners researching a $50K to $100K outdoor project cannot find a contractor who answers all three questions: Are they real? Can I see their work? Will they stand behind it? Here is exactly how a Genesis deck build runs, step by step.
You call or submit a form with your project scope and location. Tyler or a team member responds within one business day with questions and preliminary guidance. If it sounds like a fit, we move to a site visit.
Tyler visits the site, assesses your grade, how the deck connects to your home, and access. He takes precise measurements and photographs, and layout, levels, materials, and railing options are discussed in person with samples available.
A detailed line-item proposal covers all labour, materials, framing, decking, railings, and any permit fees, with a layout plan included. Once approved, we handle the required municipal building permits, lock in a confirmed start date, and order materials.
The most important phase. We set footings below the frost line, frame the structure to carry full Manitoba snow load, and detail every ledger, flashing, and connection so the deck stays solid and dry for years.
Decking boards are laid and fastened cleanly, railings and stairs are completed to code, and the build is finished to a high standard. Tyler then walks the completed deck with you, explains the warranty, and provides care guidance before the project is closed.
Real custom decks and outdoor structures we have designed and built across Winnipeg and the surrounding communities.
Genesis serves Winnipeg homeowners city-wide and across the north-corridor suburbs. Below are the primary communities where we regularly design and build decks, for both residential and commercial properties.
Most deck projects range from $20,000 to $100,000+, depending on size, material, height, railings, and whether it is part of a larger outdoor living build. Composite decks from Trex, Deckorators, and TruNorth sit at the premium end for low maintenance and long life. We provide free ballpark estimates by phone or email when you can share your scope. Final pricing always requires an on-site visit.
Both have a place. Composite from Trex, Deckorators, or TruNorth costs more upfront but resists fading, staining, and rot with almost no maintenance. Natural wood costs less initially but needs regular sealing and care. During your consultation, Tyler walks you through the trade-offs for your budget and how you plan to use the space.
For decks, our warranty covers sagging, board movement, fastener failure, and structural issues for three full years, all written into your project contract. Industry standard is one year. We set footings below the frost line and frame for snow load so your deck stays solid through Manitoba winters.
