Driveway Paving Winnipeg

Interlocking paver driveways built for Winnipeg winters: freeze-thaw resistant, plow-friendly, and engineered to carry the load without cracking or sinking. CMHA-certified. 3-year warranty. Owner on every site.

Driveway Paving Built for Winnipeg's Climate

A driveway takes more abuse than any other surface on your property: vehicle weight, daily traffic, plow blades, and Manitoba’s relentless freeze-thaw cycle. Poured concrete and asphalt fight that movement and lose, which is why you see cracking and heaving on driveways all over Winnipeg. Interlocking pavers flex with the ground instead, so they last for decades.

At Genesis Interlocking, we have been building paver driveways in Winnipeg and the surrounding suburbs since 2014. Every driveway begins with engineered base preparation: the right excavation depth, proper compaction, and drainage planning for local soil and frost conditions. A driveway is only as strong as what is underneath it, and most failures trace back to a base that was rushed.

We are a CMHA-certified installer, the industry’s highest standard for interlocking paver installation. We work with Barkman and Belgard materials, carry a 3-year workmanship warranty on every install, and Tyler Abraham is on site at every project. No subcontractors. No shortcuts.

Why Winnipeg homeowners choose Genesis for driveway paving

CMHA certification

The industry standard for interlocking paver installation, covering base engineering, edge restraint, joint sand, and compaction. Not every contractor in Winnipeg holds this. Tyler does.

Belgard & Barkman materials only

We install two of the highest-quality manufacturer lines in Manitoba, not big-box pavers. Consistent tolerances, manufacturer warranties, and proven freeze-thaw performance. No budget tier.

Manitoba base engineering

A driveway carries vehicle loads, so the base matters more here than anywhere on your property. Winnipeg's freeze-thaw cycle demands deeper base preparation than most of Canada. We engineer depth, aggregate, and drainage for your specific site. This is where lesser installs fail in 2 to 3 seasons.

Workmanship warranty

If any workmanship issue appears within 3 years, shifting, edge failure, or joint loss, we return and fix it at no charge. Written into every project contract, not just a verbal promise.

Owner on every site

Tyler Abraham is not a project manager in an office. He is physically on site at every project, overseeing base depth and making real-time decisions. On a driveway that has to last decades, this matters.

No rushed timelines

We do not double-book crews or chase volume. Each project gets the full team's attention. If your timeline is unrealistic, Tyler will tell you and decline the work rather than compromise the result.

Driveway Paving Materials We Work With

We install Barkman and Belgard paving stone, two of the leading manufacturer lines in Manitoba. For driveways, we use pavers rated for vehicle traffic in the sizes, textures, and finishes that suit your home.

Barkman Concrete Products

Barkman is a Manitoba-based manufacturer with over 75 years of production history. Their concrete paving stone is engineered specifically for prairie climate conditions: dimensional stability, consistent colour retention, and freeze-thaw performance tested for this region.

Belgard Paving Stone

Belgard is one of North America's largest paving stone manufacturers. As a Belgard Authorized Installer, Genesis has access to the full product line and technical support. Belgard's Permeable Pavers are particularly relevant for Winnipeg driveways with drainage requirements.

How We Install Driveways in Winnipeg

Most homeowners researching a driveway project can’t find a contractor who answers all three questions: Are they real? Can I see their work? Will they stand behind it? With Genesis, the answer to all three is yes, and the process below is exactly how we get there.

Free Quote

You call or submit a form with your project scope and location. Tyler or a team member responds within one business day with questions and preliminary guidance. If it sounds like a fit, we move to a site visit.

Site Visit & Measurement

Tyler visits the site, assesses soil conditions, existing grades, and drainage patterns. He takes precise measurements and photographs. This is also when material and design options are discussed in person with samples available.

Proposal, Design & Permitting

A detailed line-item proposal is prepared covering all labour, materials, base aggregate, edge restraints, jointing sand, and any permit fees, along with a basic layout plan. Once you approve, we handle any required municipal permits and lock in a confirmed start date.

Excavation & Base Preparation

The most important phase for a driveway. We excavate to the engineered depth for your site and frost zone, install and compact granular base in layers, establish proper grade and drainage slope, and install edge restraints. This is what carries the vehicle load and keeps the surface from shifting through every freeze-thaw cycle.

Paver Installation & Final Walkthrough

We lay your pavers to the agreed pattern, make precise cuts at the edges, then sweep in jointing sand and compact the surface so every stone locks into place. We clean up the site completely and walk the finished driveway with you to make sure it meets the standard we promised.

Driveway Paving Across Winnipeg and Surrounding Communities

Genesis serves Winnipeg homeowners city-wide and across the north-corridor suburbs. Below are the primary communities where we regularly install interlocking paver driveways.

Common Questions About Working With Genesis

A properly built interlocking paver driveway can last 25 to 30 years or more in our climate. Because each paver is an individual unit on an engineered base, the surface flexes with freeze-thaw movement instead of cracking like concrete or asphalt. And if a single area ever settles, individual pavers can be lifted and reset rather than replacing the whole surface.

For our freeze-thaw climate, yes. Concrete and asphalt are solid surfaces that crack and heave when the ground moves under them, which is why you see so much spider-web cracking on Winnipeg driveways. Pavers move with the ground and settle back, they look better, and they are far easier to repair. The upfront cost is higher, but the lifespan and lower long-term maintenance usually make them the better value.

Cost depends on the size of the driveway, the paver line you choose, and the amount of excavation and base work your site needs. Driveways carry vehicle loads, so the base is deeper and more involved than a patio or walkway. We provide a free ballpark estimate by phone or email once you share your approximate square footage, and a firm price after an on-site visit.

Yes. We use pavers rated for vehicle traffic and build the base to carry the load, so your driveway handles cars, trucks, and daily use without rutting. For snow, plow or shovel as normal. A properly compacted, edge-restrained paver driveway stands up to Winnipeg winters and plow blades when it is installed to standard, which is exactly how we build.

Our workmanship warranty covers the installation itself: if shifting, settling, edge failure, or joint loss appears within 3 years due to how we built it, we return and fix it at no charge. The pavers themselves carry their own manufacturer warranty from Barkman or Belgard. It is written into every project contract, not just a verbal promise.
