When every step is defined, documented, and communicated, there is no room for assumptions to become expensive disagreements. You know what you are getting. We know what we committed to. Most homeowners researching an outdoor project can’t find a contractor who answers all three questions: Are they real? Can I see their work? Will they stand behind it? With Genesis, the answer to all three is yes, and the process below is exactly how we get there.
Tell us about your project, your space, and your budget. Tyler or a team member responds within one business day. We can give a ballpark over phone or email once you share your approximate square footage and scope, then book a site visit if it sounds like a fit.
Tyler visits your property, assesses soil conditions, existing grades, and drainage, and takes precise measurements and photographs. This is where we discuss materials and design options in person, with samples on hand. No guessing, no quoting blind.
You receive a clear, line-item proposal covering labour, materials, base aggregate, edge restraints, jointing sand, and any permit fees, along with a layout plan. You review it, ask questions, and request changes. Nothing moves forward until you approve and sign off.
We handle any municipal permits your project requires and lock in a confirmed start date. Materials are ordered and delivery is scheduled. You know when we start and what to expect, so there are no surprise delays once the season begins.
We excavate to the engineered depth for your site, build and compact the base in layers, then install your surface to the agreed design. When the work is done, we clean up completely and walk the finished project with you. Backed by our 3-year workmanship warranty.
Genesis is not the right contractor for every project. Here is what we do not do, and what we recommend instead.
If your project needs to be done in a week, we are not the right fit. Proper base preparation, quality installation, and thorough inspection take the time they take. We do not double-book crews, skip compaction stages, or cut installation time to fit an unrealistic schedule. If a client insists on a timeline that compromises quality, Tyler declines the work. This is non-negotiable.
Genesis's minimum project scope is approximately $15,000. Below this threshold, the design process, permitting coordination, base engineering, and warranty coverage do not serve the client efficiently relative to cost. If your project is a small repair or a purely cosmetic fix, we will be honest that we are not the most efficient option.
Every Genesis project uses contractor-grade and manufacturer-specified materials: Barkman and Belgard paving stone, proper granular base aggregate, ASTM-compliant edge restraints, and polymeric jointing sand. We do not offer a lower-cost version of our installation using big-box pavers or reduced base specifications. If price is the primary decision driver, we are likely not the right fit, and we would rather say that now.
Genesis does take residential snow removal clients to keep crew employed through Manitoba winters, but snow removal is not a growth service. We do not compete for commercial snow contracts and are phasing it gradually out as hardscape installation demand grows. If you are looking for a dedicated snow contractor, we can recommend local operators who specialize in it.
Planting, sod installation, or soil work as a standalone project is not Genesis's focus. These services are available as part of a broader hardscape and outdoor living build, where the softscape complements the structural work we have completed. A standalone planting or sod job without any hardscape component is outside our core service scope.

A workmanship warranty is only as honest as the contractor behind it. Here is exactly what we cover, what we do not, and why.
The first full year covers the initial freeze-thaw cycle. The second year covers the second cycle, when any marginal base preparation failures typically appear. The third year is the confidence period: if the installation has held through two full Manitoba winters, it is built correctly. Genesis offers 3 years because we are confident in the base engineering on every site. If we were not, we would not offer it.
It depends on the season and project size, but the path is always the same: first contact, site visit, proposal, permitting and scheduling, then the build. The build itself can run from a few days to a few weeks. We give you a realistic timeline in writing before we start, and we do not rush it to hit an unrealistic date.

Nothing moves forward until you review and approve a detailed, line-item proposal. Deposit and payment terms are laid out clearly in that proposal, so there are no surprises. You always know what you are paying for and when, before any work starts.
Our build season fills up, especially spring and early summer, so the earlier you reach out the better. Booking a site visit early holds your place in the queue and gives us time to plan materials and permits properly. If your timeline is tight, tell us and we will be honest about what is realistic.
Small adjustments are sometimes possible, but major changes after the design is approved can affect materials, timeline, and cost. That is exactly why we spend so much time on the proposal and design stage upfront: to get every detail right before the first paver is laid, so changes mid-build are rarely needed.
