Landscape Design in Winnipeg

The cheapest place to change your mind is on paper. Every decision about grade, levels and how spaces connect gets harder and more expensive the moment a machine is on site.

Designed by the People Who Will Build It

Most landscape drawings are produced by someone who will never pick up a shovel on the project. They look beautiful, they get handed to a contractor, and then the contractor starts explaining what cannot actually be built, what the grade will not allow, and what the budget was never going to cover. The homeowner ends up in the middle, holding a drawing nobody will stand behind.
We design what we build. Tyler holds a landscape design certificate alongside his CMHA and Belgard credentials, and he is on every build we do. That means nothing gets drawn that we cannot deliver, every level and transition is worked out by someone who knows what it takes to construct it, and there is no gap between the plan and the person responsible for the result.
Winnipeg adds one more reason to design early. Our build season is short, so good crews fill up fast and the properties that get built first are the ones that were designed over the winter. Designing in January is not being early, it is being on time. It also gives you months to decide on materials and to phase the work across two or three seasons without rushing a decision you will live with for twenty years.

Why Winnipeg Homeowners Choose Genesis for Landscape Design

Certified Landscape Designer

Tyler holds a landscape design certificate as well as his CMHA and Belgard installation credentials. The design and the build are held to the same published standards.

Grade and Drainage Solved First

Where water goes is decided on the plan, not discovered during excavation. On Red River clay this is the decision that every other decision depends on.

Designed to Be Built in Phases

Most full property projects here run across two or three seasons. We design the finished property once, then break it into phases that connect cleanly instead of undoing each other.

Designed for the Window, Not Just the Patio

You look at your yard from inside the house for six months of the year and use it for four. Sightlines from the kitchen and living room windows are part of the design, because that is the view you get the most of.

Owner on Every Site

The person who draws your plan is the person standing on your site while it is built. Nothing gets lost in a handover, because there is no handover.

Honest About Budget

If the plan you want and the budget you have do not meet, we tell you during design and show you what to cut or phase. Finding out during construction is the expensive way to learn it.

What the Design Covers and What You Receive

Design is not a drawing. It is a set of decisions, and the drawing is how we show them to you.

Site, Grade and How It Will Be Used

We start with the property as it actually behaves. Where water collects, where the sun lands in the afternoon, where the wind comes from, what the neighbours can see. Then we work out how you want to use it and lay the zones out against those realities rather than against a template.

Plans, Renderings and Pricing

You receive enough to make a confident decision. A scaled layout plan, 3D renderings for larger projects so you can see it before it exists, and line-item pricing that shows what each part costs so you can phase it on your own terms.

Winter is the right time to design. Book a site visit now and your project is planned, priced and scheduled before the season starts.

How We Design a Landscape

Design happens on the property, not at a desk. Here is how a Genesis design project runs from your first call to a plan you can build from.

Free Quote

You call or submit a form with your project scope and location. Tyler or a team member responds within one business day with questions and preliminary guidance. If it sounds like a fit, we move to a site visit.

Site Visit & Discovery

Tyler walks the property with you, takes measurements and photographs, and checks grade, drainage, access and sightlines. Just as importantly, he asks how you actually live outdoors, because that is what separates a design for you from a design for anyone.

Concept and Layout

We work the property up as a whole: zones, levels, circulation, planting and how each area connects to the next. You see the concept and we adjust it together before anything is detailed or priced.

Renderings and Line-Item Pricing

For larger projects we produce 3D renderings so you can see the finished property from the angles you will actually view it from. Pricing is broken out by area so you can see exactly what each part of the plan costs.

Phasing and Scheduling

If the project is running across seasons, we set the phase order so each stage finishes complete and nothing later disturbs what is already built. Then we lock in a confirmed start date for phase one.

What Winnipeg Homeowners Say

Landscape Design Across Winnipeg and Surrounding Communities

Genesis serves Winnipeg homeowners city-wide and across the north-corridor suburbs. Below are the primary communities where we regularly design and build complete properties, for both residential and commercial clients.

Common Questions About Working With Genesis

Design is priced against the size and complexity of the property, so a single patio area and a full property plan with renderings and phasing sit far apart. We discuss the design scope and what it will cost at the site visit, before any work begins, so there are no surprises. The initial consultation and the site visit are free.
Over the winter. Our build season is short and schedules fill in order, so properties designed in December through March are the ones that get built early in the season. Designing in May usually means building the following year.
We design for projects we expect to build, because the value of our design is that the person drawing it is the person responsible for delivering it. If circumstances change we will talk it through with you honestly rather than hold you to anything.
A scaled layout plan with dimensions, a material palette, line-item pricing broken out by area, and for larger projects 3D renderings of the finished property. If the project is phased, you also get the phase order and what each phase includes.
