Decorative Rock Installation Winnipeg

Decorative rock, river rock and feature boulders installed at proper depth, properly contained, and working as drainage where your property needs it. Part of complete landscape builds across Winnipeg.

Rock Is a Finish and a Function

Decorative rock is the longest-lasting finish you can put on a bed. It does not break down, it does not blow away, it does not need topping up every spring, and in the right colour it makes planting and hardscape read sharper than mulch ever will. On a property built to last, rock is what most of the beds end up finished in.
It is also doing real work. A rock strip along the foundation keeps roof splash off your siding. A band at the base of a fence stops string trimmer damage and keeps grass from creeping. Rock around downspouts and in low areas moves water instead of letting it pool on clay. Most homeowners see rock as decoration. On a Winnipeg property it is drainage detailing that happens to look good.
The difference between rock that stays put and rock that migrates into the lawn is containment and depth. We excavate the area, lay fabric where it belongs, install edging to hold the boundary, and set the rock deep enough to actually cover rather than scattering a thin layer that shows fabric within a year. Tyler Abraham is on site at every project. No subcontractors. No shortcuts.

Why Winnipeg Homeowners Choose Genesis for Rock and Boulders

Installed at Proper Depth

Thin rock shows fabric, lets weeds through and looks cheap within a season. We excavate the area out and set rock at a depth that actually covers and stays covering, so the finish looks the same in year five.

Contained Properly

Rock migrates if nothing holds it. We install edging suited to the situation, paving stone borders, buried steel or aluminum, so the rock stays where it was laid and does not end up in your lawn or under a mower.

Boulders Placed, Not Dropped

A feature boulder is a design element. We select for face, colour and size, then set each one on its best face and partly buried so it looks like it grew there rather than like it was delivered there.

Rock That Handles Water

Foundation strips, fence bands, downspout areas and low spots get rock that is sized and placed to move water rather than trap it. On Red River clay that detail matters more than the colour does.

Owner on Every Site

Tyler Abraham is not a project manager in an office. He is physically on site at every project, placing every feature boulder by eye and checking that the rock lines run true. Placement is a design call, not a delivery.

No rushed timelines

We do not double-book crews or chase volume. Each project gets the full team's attention. If your timeline is unrealistic, Tyler will tell you and decline the work rather than compromise the result.

Rock and Boulders We Install

Rock is chosen for the job it is doing and the stone it sits next to. We match colour and size to your paving stone, your walls and your house, not to whatever was on the yard that week.

Decorative Rock and River Rock

Washed river rock, crushed granite and limestone in a range of sizes and colours, laid over fabric and set at proper depth. Smaller sizes suit tight beds and clean modern lines, larger sizes suit drainage areas and spots where you do not want anything shifting.

Boulders, Drainage Rock and Rock Mulch

Feature boulders set as focal points, anchors at grade changes or natural seating. Drainage rock used where water needs to move: foundation strips, fence bands, downspout areas and low spots that hold water after a prairie downpour.

Rock or mulch, and which colour?

During the consultation, Tyler will walk you through rock size, colour and depth against your paving stone, your siding and what is planted in each bed, and show you where rock should be doing drainage work on your property. We bring samples to every site visit.

How We Install Decorative Rock in Winnipeg

Most homeowners researching a $50K to $100K outdoor project cannot find a contractor who answers all three questions: Are they real? Can I see their work? Will they stand behind it? Here is exactly how a Genesis landscape build runs, step by step.

Free Quote

You call or submit a form with your project scope and location. Tyler or a team member responds within one business day with questions and preliminary guidance. If it sounds like a fit, we move to a site visit.

Site Visit & Design

Tyler visits the site, assesses your grade, drainage, downspouts and where water currently sits. He takes precise measurements and photographs, and rock size, colour, depth, boulder placement and edging are discussed in person with samples available.

Proposal, Permitting, & Scheduling

A detailed line-item proposal covers all labour, rock, boulders, fabric and edging, with a layout plan included. Once approved, we lock in a confirmed start date and order materials.

Excavation, Edging & Fabric

The areas are excavated to depth, grass and roots removed, grade and drainage set so water moves where it should, edging installed to hold the boundary, and fabric laid where rock is going over it.

Rock, Boulders & Final Walkthrough

Feature boulders are set first and placed on their best face, then rock is spread to full covering depth and raked to a consistent finish with clean lines at every edge. Tyler then walks the finished areas with you, explains the warranty, and provides care guidance before the project is closed.

What Winnipeg Homeowners Say

Decorative Rock Across Winnipeg and Surrounding Communities

Genesis serves Winnipeg homeowners city-wide and across the north-corridor suburbs. Below are the primary communities where we regularly install decorative rock and feature boulders as part of complete landscape projects.

Common Questions About Working With Genesis

Rock is priced by area, the depth required, the size and type of stone selected, and how much excavation, edging and fabric the site needs. Feature boulders are priced individually because of the material and the equipment to place them. We install rock as part of complete landscape projects, so it is quoted within the full scope and final pricing requires an on-site visit.
Rock lasts indefinitely and never needs topping up, which suits foundation beds, fence lines and low-planting areas. Mulch breaks down and feeds the soil, which suits beds with real planting in them. Most properties use both.
Nothing stops weeds completely. Fabric under rock plus proper depth stops weeds coming up from below, but over the years seed blows in and germinates in the dust that settles between stones. It is far less than mulch, not zero.
Rarely. It may need a top-up in spots where it has settled or been disturbed, and a rinse brings the colour back. Unlike mulch it does not decompose, which is why it costs more up front and less over time.
Yes. Boulder size is limited by access to the area more than anything else, which is one of the things Tyler assesses at the site visit before anything is quoted.
